Hey South Bay! We are the #1 coding program in Silicon Valley, bringing the fun and exciting world of code to our kids!

At theCoderSchool, we want to do more than just teach coding.

We want to inspire our coders to think outside the box in a creative way. Our unique approach not only focuses on coding, but also teaches kids how to channel their ideas and problem solve, all while having tons of fun.

Our talented code coaches will focus on your child’s individual needs, interests and skill level. Snap, Scratch, Python, Java, C++, Swift, Unity, etc., we can do it all! We will help build the confidence and skill set that will be valuable to their education and future careers.

Who is theCoderSchool

Code Coaching®

Code Coaching® is our core philosophy, and what our school is all about!  We believe that every student is different, and that kids should learn in the way that works best for each child. How? Our Code Coaches® - they're the magic sauce!  Unlike some coding schools, we don't just leave the kids in front of a computer, expecting the software to teach them how to code. Nor do we force all kids to go through the same curriculum or projects, regardless of their skills and interests. Instead, our Code Coaches® customize their lessons for each child, and focus on a 2 on 1 mentee-mentor relationship with our kids so our students can get the focused attention they need.

Code Coaching® works for kids of all ages and skill levels, from novice to advanced. From game development to web apps, Python to Java, or even niche technologies like AI and beyond, our Coaches can help your kids achieve their goals.

Sessions run one or two hours a week (your choice), at the same time every week on a schedule that works for both you and our assigned Coach. Check out our video for more info!

Coding Lessons for Kids in San Jose, CA

Coding takes practice, and we believe getting kids to code consistently throughout the year is the only way they'll really learn to code! That's where our Code Coaches® come in, providing a long-term mentoring relationship to teach kids to code, from someone who's a coder themselves.

Our coding school's flagship program, Code Coaching®, combines a super-small teaching ratio of typically 2:1 or 1:1 with individualized curriculum so kids are able to move at their own pace, doing things that interest them most. This program works for kids of all ages and skill levels. From game development to web apps, Python to Java, or even niche technologies like AI and beyond, our Code Coaches can help your kids achieve their programming goals. Sessions run one or two hours a week (your choice), at the same time every week on a schedule that works for both you and our assigned Coach. Our lessons are taught in-person at our schools where available, or can be online for social distancing. Fill out our form above to get a free trial today!

Our Coder Tree®

We believe that every student learns in his or her own way, not only in what they want to work on, but how fast and how much. Our Coder Tree® is a visualization of our students' learning options as they grow and a sampling of some of the topics we teach. Like real trees, our students' coding journeys are unique from each other, but all require strong foundations and trunks to support their higher, advanced branches. Need a magnifying glass? Here's a zoomable view.

Tracking Progress

Custom coding means tracking progress is even more important! Our suite of proprietary tools* does just that. Our Coder Progress and Notes+ systems chart weekly progress through concept tracking and freeform notes. App Reviews track longer term progress by identifying current skills to build their individual Coder Tree®. Finally, our Student Portal is a one-stop shop to see it all and then some! Confused? It's complicated! Get an idea by clicking through a Sample Student's functional Student Portal to see for yourself.

Spring & Summer Camps

Our Spring camps will be held remotely & our Summer camps will be held on-site.

Our Remote Spring camps will use Zoom and will run from Mon-Fri 9am-11am or 1-3pm. Campers will be required to have the following minimum technology available at home:

  • Windows PC, Apple/Mac, or Chromebook (or similar) computer
  • Internet connection of at least 15 Mbps (most homes support at least this speed)
  • Microphone/Speakers - Many computers have a built-in microphone/speakers that should work
  • A video/web camera connected to your computer allows us to see your child and coach them better based on their reactions
  • Our On-site Summer camps are held at theCoderSchool San Jose from 9am to 3pm Mon-Fri and will be limited to 6 campers with 1 coach per camp. Kids bring their own lunches and water bottles, and we'll take care of the rest! Our On-site camps will require all students, coaches and staff to wear face coverings and our facility will be organized for campers to maintain 6 feet of physical distance between campers and coaches.

All of our camps leverage goodies from our year-round programs to create a uniquely collaborative environment where the kids work together, code together, and have a rockin’ fun summer together! We work with students from novice to expert. Kids code throughout the week and then demo their week's creations on the last day of camp.

For a limited time (through Sunday, March 31st, 2021), we're offering our early-bird discount of $200 off On-site camps or $50 off remote camps. Just use the code EARLY200 (for Summer camps) and EARLY50 (for Spring camps) at checkout.*

Cancellation policy: 100% refund if cancelled at least 30 days prior to camp start date. 50% refund if cancelled at least 14 days to camp start date. No refund within 14 days prior to camp start date.

Hello parents and coders! I am the General Manager of theCoderSchool San Jose and am very excited for the opportunity to work with you! For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a part of the educational journey of the kids’ of tomorrow. Growing up in Silicon Valley, I know that code is now an integral part of education, like math and science. I have a Bachelor’s in Biological Sciences from the University of the Pacific and a background in Hotel Management, Accounting & Marketing. My passion, however, lies in helping children. I have several years of experience tutoring children. I have a young daughter and enjoy seeing how happy she is when she figures out something new. I look forward to sharing these moments with you and your child as they grasp new concepts at theCoderSchool. We will help your child to learn to think outside of the box, all while having lots of fun! Do not hesitate to reach out to me to learn more about theCoderSchool San Jose at deena@thecoderschool.com.

Hi technology lovers! I started my career at Bearing Point and then moved to KPMG as a member of the financial advisory practice. As a consultant, I had the opportunity to work on transformational projects for some of the biggest names in technology including Google, Microsoft, Yahoo and Cisco. From consulting, I moved to Elance, the world's biggest freelancer marketplace, which is now called Upwork. At Upwork, I created solutions for Enterprise clients and provided the ideal path for them to engage with freelancers. I am currently providing services to all west coast clients at Synack, a fast growing startup in the expanding world of Cyber Security. Code is the base of every project and product that I have been apart of. I am constantly reminded about the importance of the skill and the endless possibilities when applied.
