Summer Coding Camps

While we’re mostly an after-school custom-learning coding shop, we also offer Summer Camps! Our in-person coding camps can be a great way to keep your kids learning computer science through their time away from school. theCoderSchool’s camps target kids’ interests, from video game development to robotics to minecraft to roblox to javascript with html/css and even mobile game development.

How We Teach at Our Camps

Our camps generally have a low-ratio of students per coach. Ask your location for specifics as it can vary. Camp instructors are Code Coaches® who have successfully gone through our onboarding process and are coders that know how to teach coding skills to kids. Each camp has recommendations around age and skill level, but all are open to discussion based on your child’s experience with coding.

How Our Camps Are Run

Each day camp runs for a full week, usually starting mid-morning and finishing early afternoon, although some camps are offered as a half-day. While we’ll do lots of on-computer learning, we’ll also take plenty of breaks and take a walk outside or other indoor activities. At the end of the week, students give demos to show off their hard work from the week and their newfound critical thinking skills.

PYTHON STARTUP (10+)

Have you ever tried to solve a Rubik's Cube only to give up after hours of only managing to get one side to match!? Yes we’ve all been there, and to solve a Rubik's Cube it can be tricky unless you know the algorithm to do so, and we do! In the ‘Cubing & Coding Python A.I. Camp’ we’ll teach kids how to solve a real Rubik's Cube using an algorithm, or a list of steps and we’ll be teaching them how to code an application in Python to solve a virtual Rubik's Cube through Artificial Intelligence or A.I. We’re excited about this new coding camp and we know the kids will love it!

WEBROX (9+)

WebRox Camp is our deep-dive into real web development—because the web truly rocks! Campers spend the week learning the core technologies that power the modern internet. They'll work hands-on with HTML to structure their pages, CSS to style and format content, and JavaScript to add interactivity. Throughout the week, students will build out a multi-page website from the ground up and learn how to deploy and publish it live by the final day. In addition to development skills, campers will explore how the internet actually works—including servers, clients, domains, hosting, and what happens behind the scenes when you load a webpage. We also incorporate critical Internet Safety and Cyber Hygiene topics such as secure passwords, recognizing unsafe sites, understanding digital footprints, and basic data privacy.

What is a coding camp?

Coding summer camps are week-long coding courses in a variety of topics, from robotics to artificial intelligence to video game design and development. We also teach an Intro to Python Programming camp, one of the fastest growing programming languages in the world!
