Summer Coding Camps

While we’re mostly an after-school custom-learning coding shop, we also offer Summer Camps! Our in-person coding camps can be a great way to keep your kids learning computer science through their time away from school. theCoderSchool’s camps target kids’ interests, from video game development to robotics to minecraft to roblox to javascript with html/css and even mobile game development.

How We Teach at Our Camps

Our camps generally have a low-ratio of students per coach. Ask your location for specifics as it can vary. Camp instructors are Code Coaches® who have successfully gone through our onboarding process and are coders that know how to teach coding skills to kids. Each camp has recommendations around age and skill level, but all are open to discussion based on your child’s experience with coding.

How Our Camps Are Run

Each day camp runs for a full week, usually starting mid-morning and finishing early afternoon, although some camps are offered as a half-day. While we’ll do lots of on-computer learning, we’ll also take plenty of breaks and take a walk outside or other indoor activities. At the end of the week, students give demos to show off their hard work from the week and their newfound critical thinking skills.

Let's get ready for winter, spring, and summer camps! Our camps are run in our school from 9 am to 3 pm. Kids bring their own lunches and water bottles and we'll take care of the rest! Kids code throughout the week and get an awesome (included) lunch on the last day, then demo their week's creations later that afternoon. For lunch, we walk to a nearby park to get away from the screens. Camp registration may be canceled up to 30 days prior to the first day of the start of camp for a full refund. Cancellations made up to 10 days prior are eligible for a 50% refund. We work with students from novice to expert! Optional after care until 6 pm available: $195/5-Day, $156/4-Day, $117/3-Day, $78/2-Day, $39/1-Day camp.

GAME DEVELOPMENT (Ages 6.5+)

This camp teaches coding through game design and fun-filled projects on the popular Scratch platform created by MIT. Scratch uses drag 'n drop blocks allowing technologists to quickly assemble code to bring their imagination and creativity to life. Technologists not only learn computer science fundamentals: loops, conditionals, and variables, they also develop and apply key math skills including coordinate geometry, negative numbers, angles and boolean logic. What is a coding camp?

Coding summer camps are week-long coding courses in a variety of topics, from robotics to artificial intelligence to video game design and development. We also teach an Intro to Python Programming camp, one of the fastest growing programming languages in the world!
