Summer Coding Camps

While we’re mostly an after-school custom-learning coding shop, we also offer Summer Camps! Our in-person coding camps can be a great way to keep your kids learning computer science through their time away from school. theCoderSchool’s camps target kids’ interests, from video game development to robotics to minecraft to roblox to javascript with html/css and even mobile game development.

How We Teach at Our Camps

Our camps generally have a low-ratio of students per coach. Ask your location for specifics as it can vary. Camp instructors are Code Coaches® who have successfully gone through our onboarding process and are coders that know how to teach coding skills to kids. Each camp has recommendations around age and skill level, but all are open to discussion based on your child’s experience with coding.

How Our Camps Are Run

Each day camp runs for a full week, usually starting mid-morning and finishing early afternoon, although some camps are offered as a half-day. While we’ll do lots of on-computer learning, we’ll also take plenty of breaks and take a walk outside or other indoor activities. At the end of the week, students give demos to show off their hard work from the week and their newfound critical thinking skills.

Our camps are run in our school from 9am-12pm and 12:30-3pm Mon-Fri. Kids bring their own water bottles and we'll take care of the rest! Code throughout the week, then demo on Friday. Camp registration may be cancelled up to 30 days prior to the first day of the start of camp for a full refund. Cancellations made up to 14 days prior are eligible for a 50% refund. GAME DEVELOPMENT (Ages 7+)

We’ll be using the cool drag n’ drop coding language Scratch to bring imagination and creativity to life to design some awesome new and classic games! Aimed at our newbie and novice coders.

ROBOCODE (Ages 9+)

If your child loves the idea of bringing robots to life, our Robocode camp is the perfect place to start! Using the exciting mBot system, students will build their very own robot and learn how to code it to move, react, and explore using real sensors. From navigating obstacles to completing fun challenges, every day is packed with hands-on discovery and creativity. By the end of the week, they won’t just have new coding skills—they’ll take their fully built mBot home to keep the adventure going! This is FULL DAY-From Monday-Thursday, kids bring their own lunches and water bottles and we'll take care of the rest! They create and code throughout the week and on Friday get an awesome (included) lunch on the last day, then demo their week's creations later that afternoon. Win-Win!

Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Silicon Valley, theCoderSchool believes every kid is unique, and we treat them that way. We design our coding camps to help kids understand STEM topics through interactive, hands-on experiences. Our engaging approach makes sometimes complex concepts palatable for younger students. What is a coding camp?

Coding summer camps are week-long coding courses in a variety of topics, from robotics to artificial intelligence to video game design and development. We also teach an Intro to Python Programming camp, one of the fastest growing programming languages in the world!

What is the best coding camp for kids?

We know how different kids are from one another, and our camps help reflect that diversity. You'll find camps that focus on javascript and HTML/CSS for web development, use Scratch for game design, game development, and animations, we even have camps that teach algorithms for basic artificial intelligence and data science. We also employ a project-based learning experience.

What is theCoderSchool? We are an after-school drop-off (and virtual) program for kids learning to code - a coding school! There's after-school kung fu.
