  • Camp Description

This camp takes coding and combines it with electronics in the most practical and hands-on way by using an Arduino (ar-DWEE-no) Microcontroller. Campers will get to physically connect and program components such as LEDs and sensors. Technology is forever continuing to connect more and more devices so this is such a valuable skill to learn and understand. It's the pathway to robotics, IoT, and automation. Plus it's super fun to get to tinker with all these hardware components and see them work!

    Teaching Platform

Data and arduino Coding Camp at theCoderSchool This summer day camp will allow campers to experiment with their own Arduino kits. They will be physically interacting with, connecting, and programming them to control real-world objects. They will complete many small fun projects throughout the week. Projects can range from a simple traffic light system to a distance-detecting alarm as the campers are encouraged to be as creative as their imaginations will take them.

    Concepts Learned

Campers will get a chance to be very hands-on during this camp as they will be connecting physical components such as LEDs, motors, and sensors (exact components TBD). The will gain a basic understanding of electronics (voltage, current, resistance) as well as familiarity with Arduino hardware and software. They will employ basic coding concepts such as loops, conditions, reading inputs, and controlling outputs.

    Skill Level

Arduino is aimed towards our beginner/intermediate coders. No coding experience is required, but intermediate logic skills are needed. Logic skills are useful for any computer science, and it's something they can build on in this hand-on enrichment summer camp. This arduino camp is ideal for students ages 9 and up. What is theCoderSchool? We are an after-school drop-off (and virtual) program for kids learning to code - a coding school! There's after-school kung fu. There's after-school music lessons, sports, art, tutoring, Chinese, you name it, it's out there. But coding classes for kids? Founded in 2013, we're the first of many, and the largest in Silicon Valley with more locations on the way around the country. The future will be ever more dependent on technology so let's get our young generation ready. Learn to Code, Change the World®.
