Camp Description

Calling all the artistic kids! Ever wanted to tell a story through animation on a computer? Here's your chance! Use MIT's Scratch to bring your creative ideas to life. From background scenes to movement and audio, use basic coding techniques to get your characters moving. Perfect for the inner artist who's ready to learn a little about logic and coding too!

Teaching Platform

Digital Art and Animation Camp at theCoderSchool MIT's Scratch is the perfect platform for beginners to get started in story animation. With its simple ad graphical blocks, our campers get their ideas to screen in no time. Beyond animation, Scratch is also a great platform for learning real logic and how code really works. AI may be able to code for us in the future, but knowing what it's doing and how to steer it will still be as important as ever!

Concepts Learned

Using Scratch to code animations will help kids bridge the divide behind creative are and logical thinking. We'll learn basic coding concepts such as sprite movement and screen coordinates to get our stories moving along and jumping off the screen! Our campers will learn: By the end of the camp, not only will campers have a cool digital story to show, they'll have learned the basics of programming as well.

Skill Level

Beginner coders are welcome as we'll practice plenty of fundamental coding concepts like loops, coordinates, and events. These fundamental skills will help build their future logical thinking in all areas!
