Our in person COVID policy involves temperature check at the door, required masks, sanitizing/hand washing upon arrival, disinfecting all equipment after each student, and sanitizing/hand washing after each lesson.
At theCoderSchool, we want to do more than just teach coding. We want aspiring coders to use their new found passion as a stepping stone to thinking outside the box, as a way to channel their ideas in a creative way and most importantly, to have fun. Code Coaching® works for kids of all ages and skill levels, from novice to advanced. From game development to web apps, Python to Java, or even niche technologies like AI and beyond, our Coaches can help your kids achieve their goals.
Sessions run one or two hours a week (your choice), at the same time every week on a schedule that works for both you and our assigned Coach. Check out our video for more info!
We believe that every student learns in his or her own way, not only in what they want to work on, but how fast and how much. Our Coder Tree® is a visualization of our students' learning options as they grow and a sampling of some of the topics we teach. Find more details about what kids are learning by checking out our Coder Tree®.
Our suite of proprietary tools* chart weekly progress by tracking concepts and apps, and longer term progress by identifying skills to build their individual Coder Tree®. Get an idea of our progress tools by clicking through a Sample Student's Student Portal to see for yourself.
* Used by participating locations, check your location for availabilityEach year, theCoderSchool partners with the Congressional App Challenge, a nationwide coding contest run by districts of the U.S. Congress. Take a look at our recent winners, or ask about our App Gallery to see more apps!
Let's get ready for summer camps! Our camps run from 9:00am-3:00pm Mon-Fri. All of our camp offerings are currently for in person only.
Every Friday is Pizza & Demo day! We do a fun pizza party and demo so that the kids can show off their projects to the parents and guardians that are able to attend. During the week we will also showcase the functionality of a Drone and capture some cool aerial pics!
Our camps are held at our coding facilities and leverage goodies from our year-round programs to create a uniquely collaborative environment where the kids work together, code together, and have a rockin’ fun summer together! Due to COVID-19, all in-person camps will follow the Connecticut camp guidelines.

Hello and welcome to theCoderSchool Farmington! Chirayu and I met during our undergrad at the University of Connecticut and since then we have accomplished much together, but nothing compares to this. After having kids, we realized the importance of building a strong core foundation for children and starting them early on. We fell in love with the idea of teaching children how to code because of its many benefits. Coding is unique because not only does it teach students to think by applying problem solving, but it drives innovation. Students learn to think logically by applying commands to create anything they can imagine. No matter what field a you decide to work in, coding and computers are all around us!
I started my career twelve years ago, working in healthcare and teaching college students. In all instances of my job function I was always impressed with how much technology has impacted the healthcare and education field. Now we have the opportunity to impact the next generation by not only living with technology, but ideally creating technology as well.
Chirayu has always been fascinated with technology and is always looking for the latest gadget to play with. Working at ESPN as a project manager, he is constantly surrounded by software developers and sees the impact coders have in real life scenarios.
We are excited to bring theCoderSchool to Connecticut and help children learn to code and change the world! You can reach us anytime, vaishali@thecoderschool.com and chirayu@thecoderschool.com
We're always looking for great Code Coaches. Find out more about how to apply today.
What is theCoderSchool? We are an after-school drop-off (and virtual) program for kids
learning to code - a coding school! There's after-school kung fu. There's after-school music
lessons, sports, art, tutoring, Chinese, you name it, it's out there. But coding for kids?
We're among the first of many, and the largest in Silicon Valley with more locations on the
way around the country. The future will be ever more dependent on technology so let's get
our young generation ready. Learn to Code, Change the World®.
