Year-Round Coding Classes for Kids (ages 7-18) available either IN-PERSON at our school or REMOTELY over the Internet.
The #1 after-school coding program in Silicon Valley is now in Irvine. Whether your coder is brand new to Scratch or already building distributed Python programs, we can help him/her get to the next level. Unlike other programs, our coaches are trained to tailor the lessons to your kid’s interests. This unique approach fosters a lifelong passion for technology. Our program will equip your student with critical skills (logic, breaking complex problems into manageable chunks, working with others towards an end goal and problem-solving techniques).
We can even help with High School AP Comp Sci courses and Adult Learners.
The best way to learn about our programs is to attend a FREE Sample Lesson, either IN-PERSON or REMOTELY. You can see our facility, meet our staff, get your questions answered, and see if your student likes our teaching methods. Use the blue form to the right to register for the Sample Lesson, without any cost or obligation.
Our private or semi-private lessons are available: Mondays through Fridays from 2:30pm to 7:30pm, or Saturdays from 9:00am to 4:00pm. The group classes are only available at specific days and times.
Looking for something in South Orange County? Check out our location in Mission Viejo.
We believe that every student learns in his or her own way, not only in what they want to work on, but how fast and how much. Our Coder Tree® is a visualization of what kids are learning and a sampling of possibilities. We even have a suite of proprietary tools (see a sample Student Portal ) that chart our students' progress, concepts learned, and even activities beyond app-building.
Every coding student has a unique journey, something we call a Coder Story. Our Coder Story structure helps guide kids along a roadmap of coding possibilities as they explore coding-related activities beyond building custom apps. For those striving to go to college as a Computer Science Major, an advanced Coder Story can help differentiate their application to college admissions boards.
Each year, theCoderSchool partners with the Congressional App Challenge, a nationwide coding contest run by districts of the U.S. Congress. Take a look at some recent winners, or ask about our App Gallery to see more apps!
Sorry, we don't have any upcoming camps listed yet. Check back soon!
Hello everyone! My name is Mark Freedkin and I am the General Manager of the Coder School Irvine. I started coding BASIC and FORTRAN in high school in the 1970's (yes, I had to keypunch my own cards). After earning a Bachelors in Industrial Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Illinois, I have worked as a Technical Program Manager for nearly 40 years at small start-ups to Fortune 500 companies.
Since 1991, I have lived in Irvine where my daughter went through the Irvine Unified School District. I really enjoy working with young students and watching them get excited about technology. Learning to code helps young students develop logical thought processes and problem solving skills, which can help them in all other academic areas. I wish something like theCoderSchool was available when my daughter was younger and I'm excited to share this with our community!
If you have any questions, please contact me at mark@thecoderschool.com.
Hi! I’m Dede Leonard and I’m the District Manager of Tri-Valley CS with schools in Pleasanton, Irvine, San Ramon, Walnut Creek, Mission Viejo and now South Bay! As a homeschooler and avid equestrian, I enjoyed advocating for passion driven opportunities for youth to realize their potential and explore their interests.
We're always looking for great Code Coaches. Shoot us an email with resumé to see if we're a fit!
As you and your family consider coding programs, it helps to keep in mind:
Whether the student wants to explore Minecraft modding in Minecraft camp, is interested in HTML, or wants to learn block-based coding like CSS, our interactive classes provide a great coding experience.
What is theCoderSchool? We are an after-school drop-off (and virtual) program for kids
learning to code - a coding school! There's after-school kung fu. There's after-school music
lessons, sports, art, tutoring, Chinese, you name it, it's out there. But coding classes for kids? We're among the first of many, and the largest in Silicon Valley with more locations on the
way around the country. The future will be ever more dependent on technology so let's get
our young generation ready. Learn to Code, Change the World®. Check out our Carrollwood, Westerville, and Folsom location or all locations.
