Summer Coding Camps

While we’re mostly an after-school custom-learning coding shop, we also offer Summer Camps! Our in-person coding camps can be a great way to keep your kids learning computer science through their time away from school. theCoderSchool’s camps target kids’ interests, from video game development to robotics to minecraft to roblox to javascript with html/css and even mobile game development.

How We Teach at Our Camps

Our camps generally have a low-ratio of students per coach. Ask your location for specifics as it can vary. Camp instructors are Code Coaches® who have successfully gone through our onboarding process and are coders that know how to teach coding skills to kids. Each camp has recommendations around age and skill level, but all are open to discussion based on your child’s experience with coding.

How Our Camps Are Run

Each day camp runs for a full week, usually starting mid-morning and finishing early afternoon, although some camps are offered as a half-day. While we’ll do lots of on-computer learning, we’ll also take plenty of breaks and take a walk outside or other indoor activities. At the end of the week, students give demos to show off their hard work from the week and their newfound critical thinking skills.

Our week-long summer camps are Mon-Fri either Mornings (9am-Noon) or Afternoons (12:30-3:30pm). All of our camps will be held in-person at our school facility in Irvine. In some cases, Summer Camps can be paid for by Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts. Students will code throughout the week then demonstrate their creations to parents and families at the end of the last day. What better way to keep your kids' brains active this summer?! The age ranges are suggested guidelines only -- your student may have a different experience level, so please check with us if you are unsure. These camps fill-up quickly, so be sure to sign up now! GAME DEVELOPMENT (7-10)

This beginner drag-n-drop coding class teaches the basics of coding while kids build fun games and animations using Scratch. The class is designed for young kids and new coders with little to no coding experience and no formal typing skills are needed.

3D PRINT LAB (9+)

In this beginner class, we will teach students how to turn their ideas into reality! They will learn how to design and print their very own 3D creations using TinkerCAD. We also will teach them the science behind 3D printers. All materials and computers will be provided.

Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Silicon Valley, theCoderSchool believes every kid is unique, and we treat them that way. We design our coding camps to help kids understand STEM topics through interactive, hands-on experiences. Our engaging approach makes sometimes complex concepts palatable for younger students. What is a coding camp?

Coding summer camps are week-long coding courses in a variety of topics, from robotics to artificial intelligence to video game design and development. We also teach an Intro to Python Programming camp, one of the fastest growing programming languages in the world!
