Code Coaching® works for kids of all ages and skill levels, from novice to advanced. From game development to web apps, Python to Java, or even niche technologies like AI and beyond, our Coaches can help your kids achieve their goals.
Sessions run one or two hours a week (your choice), at the same time every week on a schedule that works for both you and our assigned Coach. Check out our video for more info!
We believe that every student learns in his or her own way, not only in what they want to work on, but how fast and how much. Our Coder Tree® is a visualization of our students' learning options as they grow and a sampling of some of the topics we teach. Find more details about what kids are learning by checking out our Coder Tree®.
Our suite of proprietary tools* chart weekly progress by tracking concepts and apps, and longer term progress by identifying skills to build their individual Coder Tree®. Get an idea of our progress tools by clicking through a Sample Student's Student Portal to see for yourself.

Our in-person camps (Monday- Friday 9a-3p), are held at our sweet coding facilities and leverage goodies from our year-round programs to create a uniquely collaborative environment where the kids work together, code together, and have a rockin' fun summer together! Every Friday, we'll have a fun pizza party and a demo day. This gives the kids a chance to show off their projects while articulating their code. We work with students from novice to expert!

Importantly, kids will be introduced to Internet Safety and why cyber-safety matters, plus we'll learn the basics of how the internet works. We use the “big three” languages of the web in this camp – HTML, CSS, and for advanced kids, Javascript. These three technologies make up the basis of all websites around the world, so are some of the most well-known languages there are! Unlike some other classes, we focus on the core technology code base, instead of using a platform to quickly create a beautiful site without needing to code. 07/17-07/21 9:00a-3:00p | Full Day | Python Startup Who’s ready for some PYTHON! Take advantage of the easy-to-read style of coding while picking up on one of the most popular languages today for professional and beginner coders alike. We’ll start out by using an online python platform to learn some basics and practice some fundamental concepts, and time permitting and based on our camper skill set, we may jump on to some more complex Python coding, potentially getting into coding with PyGame. Python allows beginners to easily read and understand the code while providing an almost endless supply of libraries and supporting systems to develop things from websites to backend servers to data scripts and yes, even a particular version of Minecraft! Depending on the student skill level, we’ll likely start with online coding platforms like Trinket or Pixelpad.io, and may extend into pure Python coding and local machine development, time (and skill) permitting. 08/07-08/11 9:00a-3:00p | Full Day | Go Code...The language of Google Go coding started in September 2007 when 3 Google Engineers began discussing a new language to address the engineering challenges Googlers were facing in their daily work. When first released to the public, Google didn’t know if the language would be widely adopted or if it might influence future languages. Go has succeeded in both ways: it is widely used both inside and outside Google, and its approaches to network concurrency and software engineering have had a noticeable effect on other languages and their tools. During this trailblazing camp, coders take an interactive tutorial on how to get started, create modules, learn to write Go code, and create web-based applications. Any coder enrolled in this camp will be ahead of the game! Ages 9+ | Ages 9+ | (Use FUN333 for Discount!) |

Hello there fellow super parent! We're Michael and Dominique, co-owners of theCoderSchool Montgomery. As a local family, we are excited to bring this dedicated coding program to our students.
Michael has always had a passion for helping kids learn. As a young man he started a youth group, Positivity, that sought to harness the energy of his peers to have a meaningful impact on the community. As a graduate student Michael designed and taught several courses at The University of Iowa. As a law student, Michael continued to engage in childhood education and noticed an emerging paradigm shift in the way a newer generation processed information. The seed was planted. Michael became committed to become a part of something meaningful that could positively impact the lives of our kids. theCoderSchool Montgomery is the perfect vehicle to facilitate that pursuit.
Dominique has been dedicated to the enrichment of young people for the past 30 years. She has led the development and delivery of nationally recognized K-12 educational programs for some of the most trusted names in learning including Scholastic, ACT, and Lakeshore Learning. Dominique is very knowledgeable in the areas of literacy, after school programming, summer learning, 21st century skills and STEAM. Through her experience, she has helped parents and educators connect teaching practices with relevant research and resources. She brings a creative energy and deep commitment to helping children reach their full potential and looks forward to leading this new environment of innovation, creativity, and enrichment for all of the students and families of theCoderSchool Montgomery.
To watch how coding drives innovation is like watching the future unfold. There is an undeniable beauty in seeing students take an idea that they have, make that idea come to life, and then share that idea with millions of people. Montgomery, Princeton and Hillsborough are at the cutting edge of educational innovation and we are excited about bringing this offering to our kids—including our own two tech savvy young girls. We can be reached anytime at myoung@thecoderschool.com and dyoung@thecoderschool.com.
We're always looking for great Code Coaches. Shoot us an email with resumé to see if we're a fit!
As you and your family consider coding programs, it helps to keep in mind:
Whether the student wants to explore Minecraft modding in Minecraft camp, is interested in HTML, or wants to learn block-based coding like CSS, our interactive classes provide a great coding experience.
What is theCoderSchool? We are an after-school drop-off (and virtual) program for kids
learning to code - a coding school! There's after-school kung fu. There's after-school music
lessons, sports, art, tutoring, Chinese, you name it, it's out there. But coding for kids?
We're among the first of many, and the largest in Silicon Valley with more locations on the
way around the country. The future will be ever more dependent on technology so let's get
our young generation ready. Learn to Code, Change the World®.
