Hello San Diego! The #1 after-school coding program for ages 7-18 in Silicon Valley is now here in Rancho Penasquitos. Whether your coder is brand new to Scratch or already building distributed Python programs, we can help him or her get to the next level. Unlike other programs, our talented coaches are trained to tailor the lessons to your kid’s interests. This unique approach fosters a lifelong passion for building and technology. Our program will equip your child with critical skills (logic, breaking complex problems into manageable chunks, working with others towards an end goal) and confidence valuable in any future career.
Code Coaching® works for kids of all ages and skill levels, from novice to advanced. From game development to web apps, Python to Java, or even niche technologies like AI and beyond, our Coaches can help your kids achieve their goals.
Sessions run one or two hours a week (your choice), at the same time every week on a schedule that works for both you and our assigned Coach. Check out our video for more info!
We believe that every student learns in his or her own way, not only in what they want to work on, but how fast and how much. Our Coder Tree® is a visualization of our students' learning options as they grow and a sampling of some of the topics we teach. Find more details about what kids are learning by checking out our Coder Tree®.
Our suite of proprietary tools* chart weekly progress by tracking concepts and apps, and longer term progress by identifying skills to build their individual Coder Tree®. Get an idea of our progress tools by clicking through a Sample Student's Student Portal to see for yourself.

Hello! My name is Renata and I am the general manager and co-owner of the Coder School in North San Diego. I am so thrilled to be able to bring this unique coding program to our community. I have worked multiple years at Bank of New York where I could clearly see how technology is changing the financial markets and how industries have to innovate in order to stay competitive.
I am a mother of two young children and it is amazing how technology today has changed from when I was a child. As technology grows, the next generation will be even more online and digital. I know not every child will be a coder, but the ability to understand technology will create countless opportunities for their future. I’m excited to be able to help kids develop a passion for learning how to utilize today's technology for the future. You can always reach me anytime at renata@thecoderschool.com
My name is Marcel, and along with my wife Renata, I am a co-owner of the Coder School in North San Diego. I took my first programing class in an Apple IIe back in the day and never looked back! Being a parent I am very excited to bring to our kids the Coder School’s proven concept in a setting that is designed to nurture both creativity and critical thinking.
As a graduate of Columbia Business School, I have seen firsthand the way new technology has disrupted the very core of several companies within large industries from auto to retail. I have worked on a trading floor for 10 years and during this time I developed a large appreciation for the power that an analytical thought process can have to drive changes and frame new ideas!
Our San Diego community is on the cutting edge of innovation and I am very thankful to have this chance to bring such a powerful concept to our community. As you can see, I am passionate about education and coding! You can reach me at marcel@thecoderschool.com to bounce off ideas anytime.
We're always looking for great Code Coaches. Shoot us an email with resumé to see if we're a fit!

We're among the first of many, and the largest in Silicon Valley with more locations on the
