Summer Coding Camps

While we’re mostly an after-school custom-learning coding shop, we also offer Summer Camps! Our in-person coding camps can be a great way to keep your kids learning computer science through their time away from school. theCoderSchool’s camps target kids’ interests, from video game development to robotics to minecraft to roblox to javascript with html/css and even mobile game development.

How We Teach at Our Camps

Our camps generally have a low-ratio of students per coach. Ask your location for specifics as it can vary. Camp instructors are Code Coaches® who have successfully gone through our onboarding process and are coders that know how to teach coding skills to kids. Each camp has recommendations around age and skill level, but all are open to discussion based on your child’s experience with coding.

How Our Camps Are Run

Each day camp runs for a full week, usually starting mid-morning and finishing early afternoon, although some camps are offered as a half-day. While we’ll do lots of on-computer learning, we’ll also take plenty of breaks and take a walk outside or other indoor activities. At the end of the week, students give demos to show off their hard work from the week and their newfound critical thinking skills.

FEATURED CAMP (Ages 9-13)

Put your coding skills to the test in our Short Hills Hackathon! Students will tackle a timed programming challenge using Python or another text-based language. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers, and the top 50% will qualify for the 2027 Regional Coder Fair!

PYTHON STARTUP (Ages 9-13)

Become a digital detective! Students will use Python to solve puzzles, decode secret messages, and explore the world of cryptography. Along the way, they'll learn programming fundamentals while building their very own secret-message encoder and decoder to challenge friends and family!

RISE OF THE MACHINES (Ages 7-10)

Join us for a FREE Halloween-themed introduction to coding! Students will use Scratch to create their own spooky interactive project while learning the basics of programming. Designed exclusively for new students, this beginner-friendly workshop requires no prior coding experience. Costumes encouraged!

Python Payday: Build Your Own Allowance Tracker!

Half Day In-person 12-3pm		 Want a raise in your allowance? Learn to code your case! In this hands-on Python camp, students will build their own allowance tracker to manage chores, track earnings, and set savings goals while learning essential programming concepts. They'll leave with a working Python project—and maybe a convincing argument for a bigger allowance! Parents, you've been warned! Ages 8-13 Ages 8-13 $100

Experience Interactive STEM Learning

We design our coding camps to help kids understand STEM topics through interactive, hands-on experiences. Our engaging approach makes sometimes complex concepts palatable for younger students. Hands-on STEM learning is highly valuable for students, giving them skills they can use for years to come—even if they don’t become computer programmers. What is a coding camp?

Coding summer camps are week-long coding courses in a variety of topics, from robotics to artificial intelligence to video game design and development. We also teach an Intro to Python Programming camp, one of the fastest growing programming languages in the world!

We know how different kids are from one another, and our camps help reflect that diversity.
