We believe that every student learns in his or her own way, not only in what they want to work on, but how fast and how much. Our Coder Tree® is a visualization of our students' learning options as they grow and a sampling of some of the topics we teach. Like real trees, our students' coding journeys are unique from each other, but all require strong foundations and trunks to support their higher, advanced branches. Need a magnifying glass? Here's a zoomable view.
Custom coding means tracking progress is even more important! Our suite of proprietary tools* does just that. Our Coder Progress and Notes+ systems chart weekly progress through concept tracking and freeform notes. App Reviews track longer term progress by identifying current skills to build their individual Coder Tree®. Finally, our Student Portal is a one-stop shop to see it all and then some! Confused? It's complicated! Get an idea by clicking through a Sample Student's functional Student Portal to see for yourself.
* Used by participating locations, check your location for availabilityEach year, theCoderSchool partners with the Congressional App Challenge, a nationwide coding contest run by districts of the U.S. Congress. Take a look at our recent winners, or ask about our App Gallery to see more apps!
Let's get ready for Camps! Our in-person camps will run in our school from 9 am-12 pm. Virtual half-day Camps run from 9:30 am to 11:30 am or 12:30pm to 2:30 . Hi everyone! My name is Dani Greenwald and I am so excited to be the General Manager of The Coder School of Short Hills. I have spent my entire career working with parents and children and I was born and raised in the area. I initially started my career in education and then went on to work in sleep-away camps for the last 15 years. The Coder School is exactly what our children need as coding and technology is the future! I’m excited to be able to help kids develop a passion for coding and technology and even more excited to ensure that they learn how they can leverage technology for their futures. I feel so grateful to have this opportunity to bring coding and technology to all families and children in a setting that’s both educational and fun! I can not wait to see what these children will create and become. Please stop in to say hi and see what we are all about!
My name is Noreen Kazi and I’m the owner of theCoderSchool of Short Hills. I am an active parent that is excited about bringing this dedicated coding program to our students. I have experience as a community leader and organizer and I have spent over 20 years creating educational curriculum and leading programs focused on ensuring that our youth are ready to be tomorrow’s leaders.
Through my experience designing educational curriculum, I have had the privilege of seeing how technology has positively impacted curriculum development. What I love about coding is that it drives innovation – coding provides students with the ability to take an idea that they have, make that idea come to life, and then share that idea with millions of people. Additionally, coding can provide a cross curricular benefit by improving student’s math skills as they start to visualize and break down problems from other angles. I truly believe that our children are at the cutting edge of educational innovation and I am excited about bringing this offering to our kids. You can reach me anytime at noreen@thecoderschool.com.
MEET OUR SENIOR ADVISOR My name is Nisha Bhalla and I am the Senior Advisor of theCoderSchool of Short Hills. I still remember learning how to code in Linux and was fascinated with the collaboration and support of the programming community as we all looked to build a better program, together. Technology has continued to drive significant change and the ability to code is a skillset that every student should have.
I am so excited about bringing this program to New Jersey in a setting that is both educational and fun. As a graduate of Harvard Business School, I have seen firsthand the way technology has impacted the future of all industries from farming to healthcare and I can’t wait to bring this knowledge to our students. Additionally, I have over 10 years of experience working in product development roles at various Fortune 500 companies and start-ups and I am thrilled about sharing this career knowledge with our students.
I’m also passionate about mentoring students on their communication and presentation skills, and I love that this program will not only teach kids how to code, but also how to engage their audiences to effectively communicate their ideas and opinions.
We've also assembled a team of experienced advisors to help provide oversight and guidance. Read more about who they are, and don't be surprised when they come in as speakers for our school events!
