Kids will learn about lighting, mics, video camera recording and operations, as well as how to use video editing software to mix their own creations together. We'll also teach them about audio as well as special effects. In our Animation Studio camp we’ll teach them how to draw out and animate their own creations like many of their favorite YouTube channels. This game teaches kids coding concepts in a visual way that is effective but fun throughout, hey what else did you expect from Nintendo!? Known for his creative video content, stunts and humor. If you’ve never heard of MrBeast, just ask your kids who he is! In our MrBeast Camp we’ll be teaching the kids how to brainstorm ideas, plan, shoot and edit their own MrBeast-style video ready to publish on YouTube. The campers will work in small teams to cooperate on their videos together and they’ll edit them as a team. Though not a prerequisite, if your child has been to our YouTube Studio Camp in the past, you can think of this camp as the sequel to that one! In our Dream House Designers camp, kids explore architecture, engineering, and coding while designing mini dream homes, both digitally and hands-on! Using Scratch coding, they’ll also design interactive home features, just like real architects and engineers. Scratch Camp kids Start with a hand-drawn sketch of their favorite movie or TV hero, campers will use cutting-edge artificial intelligence to refine their artwork. Next, they'll bring their characters to life in a coding project as interactive sprites. Also during this camp, the kids will get a chance to use our Oculus headset to create their own sculptures and artwork in virtual reality that they can then export and print on our 3D printer! | 12/29-1/2 | In-Person | BattleBots Advanced Robotics & Electronics Camp NO CAMP ON NEW YEARS: In the Battlebots Advanced Robotics camp kids will get a hands-on mechanical assembly and coding experience! In this camp we’ll be using the MakeBlock mBot Mega Advanced Robot. This is one of the most advanced robots we teach and it’s best suited for kids who have taken one of our other robotics camps. This camp will combine assembling the robot from scratch and will introduce kids to some electronics and mechanical sensors along the way. Once we’ve assembled the bots we’ll code them in Scratch and Arduino C to battle each other in fun competitive games! They’ll use Scratch to design interactive stories and mini-games with custom characters, enemies, and magical abilities. Using Scratch’s Music Extension, campers will program melodies and beats directly into their projects. They’ll also explore GarageBand to craft K-Pop inspired theme songs and soundtracks, experimenting with beat-making and sound design. Hello! My name is Jerry and I am Co-Owner of theCoderSchool in Dunwoody - Sandy Springs. Growing up I loved to play video games, but my mother would always tell me that I should learn how to create video games - not just play them. I took her advice and studied Computer Engineering in college which taught me circuit design and coding and led me to a career spent leading teams that have built applications on mobile PC’s, websites, desktop computers and smartphones. I credit my career success to my mother's early advice, to always learn what’s happening behind the scenes. My wife Kim and I are excited to bring this approach to learning technology to kids in the Dunwoody and Sandy Springs area with theCoderSchool and believe it will unlock a world of opportunity for them to thrive in our technology-driven society. Welcome to our site! My name is Kim and I am Co-Owner of theCoderSchool in Dunwoody - Sandy Springs. I truly believe that for a child to develop into a successful adult they must be challenged to think critically and problem solve; skills that will help them master ANY topic. I was drawn to theCoderSchool philosophy because it emphasizes the development of these skills while teaching kids to code in an environment where they are encouraged to learn and create.
With a PhD in Community Psychology, my research has primarily focused on youth development. I have spent over 15 years providing organizational and database development consulting services to non-profit organizations across the nation. I look forward to using my experience to help create the next generation of leaders.
