Summer Coding Camps

While we’re mostly an after-school custom-learning coding shop, we also offer Summer Camps! Our in-person coding camps can be a great way to keep your kids learning computer science through their time away from school. theCoderSchool’s camps target kids’ interests, from video game development to robotics to minecraft to roblox to javascript with html/css and even mobile game development.

How We Teach at Our Camps

Our camps generally have a low-ratio of students per coach. Ask your location for specifics as it can vary. Camp instructors are Code Coaches® who have successfully gone through our onboarding process and are coders that know how to teach coding skills to kids. Each camp has recommendations around age and skill level, but all are open to discussion based on your child’s experience with coding.

How Our Camps Are Run

Each day camp runs for a full week, usually starting mid-morning and finishing early afternoon, although some camps are offered as a half-day. While we’ll do lots of on-computer learning, we’ll also take plenty of breaks and take a walk outside or other indoor activities. At the end of the week, students give demos to show off their hard work from the week and their newfound critical thinking skills.

Camps are filling fast so sign up now! Summer Code Camps are Mon-Fri at either: Morning (9:00am-12:00pm) or Afternoon (12:30pm-3:30pm). Kids code throughout the week. Our campers are welcome to sign up for both the AM and PM camps any week and stay with us during the lunch break to make it a full day camp. What better way to keep your kids' brains active this summer! If you need early drop-off we will be open starting at 8:45am for the morning camps. If earlier drop-off times are needed please contact us.

Minecraft! (Ages 7-14)

Enter the world of Minecraft: Education Edition and unleash your creativity! Campers will design, build, and code their own worlds while learning problem-solving, teamwork, and logic. From exciting challenges to collaborative projects, kids will explore, experiment, and craft unique adventures in a fun, hands-on Minecraft learning experience. PC/Mac Laptop needed- limited laptops available at the school, please contact us to reserve.

7/27-7/31 12:30-3:30pm Half Day | Minecraft Your World: Minecraft Education Edition Camp, $349

Roblox! (Ages 11-16)

Kids will dive into Roblox Studio to design and build their own playable games! They’ll learn coding, game mechanics, and interactive design while bringing ideas to life. Campers must bring their own laptop with Roblox Studio installed to participate, exploring problem-solving, logic, and teamwork in a fun, hands-on environment.

3D PRINT LAB (Ages 8-14)

Kids will bring their ideas to life with 3D printing! Campers will design and build moving, articulated creations, learning how gears, joints, and mechanics work. Through hands-on projects, problem-solving challenges, and creative exploration, they’ll print unique models they can play with, display, or share with friends.

We design our coding camps to help kids understand STEM topics through interactive, hands-on experiences. Our engaging approach makes sometimes complex concepts palatable for younger students. Hands-on STEM learning is highly valuable for students, giving them skills they can use for years to come—even if they don’t become computer programmers. Coding Camps for Kids FAQ

What is a coding camp?

Coding summer camps are week-long coding courses in a variety of topics, from robotics to artificial intelligence to video game design and development. We also teach an Intro to Python Programming camp, one of the fastest growing programming languages in the world!

What makes theCoderSchool camps different?

Our coding camps at theCoderSchool are unique because they are taught in small groups and very hands-on, giving campers a more immersive experience in which to improve their technical skills.

How does a coding camp help kids?

Coding camps help our campers learn in a collaborative way. Not only are they picking up useful teamwork skills, but they’re also learning the fundamentals of a valuable STEM subject in a fun and engaging way.

What is the best coding camp for kids?

We know how different kids are from one another, and our camps help reflect that diversity. You'll find camps that focus on javascript and HTML/CSS for web development, use Scratch for game design, game development, and animations, we even have camps that teach algorithms for basic artificial intelligence and data science. We also employ a project-based learning experience.

What is theCoderSchool? We are an after-school drop-off (and virtual) program for kids learning to code - a coding school! There's after-school kung fu.
