Summer Coding Camps

While we’re mostly an after-school custom-learning coding shop, we also offer Summer Camps! Our in-person coding camps can be a great way to keep your kids learning computer science through their time away from school. theCoderSchool’s camps target kids’ interests, from video game development to robotics to minecraft to roblox to javascript with html/css and even mobile game development.

How We Teach at Our Camps

Our camps generally have a low-ratio of students per coach. Ask your location for specifics as it can vary. Camp instructors are Code Coaches® who have successfully gone through our onboarding process and are coders that know how to teach coding skills to kids. Each camp has recommendations around age and skill level, but all are open to discussion based on your child’s experience with coding.

How Our Camps Are Run

Each day camp runs for a full week, usually starting mid-morning and finishing early afternoon, although some camps are offered as a half-day. While we’ll do lots of on-computer learning, we’ll also take plenty of breaks and take a walk outside or other indoor activities. At the end of the week, students give demos to show off their hard work from the week and their newfound critical thinking skills.

Our camps run Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at our school. Campers should provide their own lunch and water bottle, and we’ll take care of the rest. Students will code throughout the week and showcase what they’ve built during a demo on Friday. We’re also excited to offer a convenient lunch option for Ridgewood campers. Parents may order lunch from Toastique Ridgewood, with delivery directly to your child during camp. This is a great option for families who prefer a fresh, nutritious lunch without packing one each day. Additional details will be shared at sign up.

Intro to AI (Scratch)	8/3-8/7 Full Day	Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of the biggest buzzwords today and we’re ready to help campers understand what it really means. What is AI? Why is it everywhere? And should we be worried about the Terminator coming back for John Connor? Campers will explore real-world AI use cases, learn how machines make decisions, and dive into fundamental AI concepts through hands-on projects. Using Scratch, students will build fun, interactive beginner AI applications while developing logical thinking and creativity. No prior coding experience required! Ages 7-10	Ages 7-10	$649
AI Level Up	8/10-8/14 Full Day	Ready to take AI to the next level? In this advanced camp, students move beyond visual programming and into real-world AI development using Python. Campers will explore how modern AI systems work by learning core concepts such as data processing, decision-making algorithms, and basic machine learning techniques. Through hands-on coding projects, students will build and experiment with their own AI-powered applications, gaining a deeper understanding of how AI is used in games, apps, and everyday technology. We design our coding camps to help kids understand STEM topics through interactive, hands-on experiences. Our engaging approach makes sometimes complex concepts palatable for younger students. Hands-on STEM learning is highly valuable for students, giving them skills they can use for years to come—even if they don’t become computer programmers.
