Summer Coding Camps

While we’re mostly an after-school custom-learning coding shop, we also offer Summer Camps! Our in-person coding camps can be a great way to keep your kids learning computer science through their time away from school. theCoderSchool’s camps target kids’ interests, from video game development to robotics to minecraft to roblox to javascript with html/css and even mobile game development.

How We Teach at Our Camps

Our camps generally have a low-ratio of students per coach. Ask your location for specifics as it can vary. Camp instructors are Code Coaches® who have successfully gone through our onboarding process and are coders that know how to teach coding skills to kids. Each camp has recommendations around age and skill level, but all are open to discussion based on your child’s experience with coding.

How Our Camps Are Run

Each day camp runs for a full week, usually starting mid-morning and finishing early afternoon, although some camps are offered as a half-day. While we’ll do lots of on-computer learning, we’ll also take plenty of breaks and take a walk outside or other indoor activities. At the end of the week, students give demos to show off their hard work from the week and their newfound critical thinking skills.

WEBROX (Ages 9+)

WebRox Camp is our deep-dive into real web development—because the web truly rocks! Campers spend the week learning the core technologies that power the modern internet. They'll work hands-on with HTML to structure their pages, CSS to style and format content, and JavaScript to add interactivity. Throughout the week, students will build out a multi-page website from the ground up and learn how to deploy and publish it live by the final day.

In addition to development skills, campers will explore how the internet actually works—including servers, clients, domains, hosting, and what happens behind the scenes when you load a webpage. We also incorporate critical Internet Safety and Cyber Hygiene topics such as secure passwords, recognizing unsafe sites, understanding digital footprints, and basic data privacy."

BATTLEBOTS ACADEMY (Ages 7 -12 )

Get ready to build and battle! In Vex Robotics Camp, campers design, customize, and optimize their own robots before facing off in an action-packed -style tournament. Learn engineering, strategy, and problem-solving while competing for the winner’s circle. Let the bot battles begin!

Minecraft! (Ages 8-12)

Step into the world of Minecraft Education and bring your coding skills to life! In this camp, students learn the fundamentals of AI programming by creating intelligent agents that explore, build, and interact within the Minecraft universe. Campers will write code to automate tasks, solve challenges, and design smart behaviors for their characters, learning real-world coding concepts while having fun in a game they love. By the end of the week, students will have built their own AI-powered Minecraft creations! No prior coding experience required.

Dive into the exciting world of electronics and coding with Arduino! In this hands-on camp, students learn how to program and control real-world devices using Arduino boards. Campers will design circuits, build interactive gadgets, and code them to respond to sensors, lights, and motors. From creating simple games to automated machines, this camp teaches problem-solving, logic, and engineering fundamentals, all while having fun bringing their ideas to life. No prior coding experience required.

Get ready for the most exciting hands-on STEM experience of the year! At Indy 3D, students dive into the world of 3D modeling, 3D printing, racing engineering, and RC car design—all while building real, functional vehicles they can race, test, and takDesign their own custom car body using kid-friendly 3D modeling tools. Build and customize a fully functioning RC-style race car, learn engineering, aerodynamics, and problem-solving through fun challenges. Race in the Indy Mini Grand Prix at the end of camp and cross the finish line!

We design our coding camps to help kids understand STEM topics through interactive, hands-on experiences. Our engaging approach makes sometimes complex concepts palatable for younger students. What is a coding camp?

Coding summer camps are week-long coding courses in a variety of topics, from robotics to artificial intelligence to video game design and development. We also teach an Intro to Python Programming camp, one of the fastest growing programming languages in the world!

What makes theCoderSchool camps different?

Our coding camps at theCoderSchool are unique because they are taught in small groups and very hands-on, giving campers a more immersive experience in which to improve their technical skills.

How does a coding camp help kids?

Coding camps help our campers learn in a collaborative way. Not only are they picking up useful teamwork skills, but they’re also learning the fundamentals of a valuable STEM subject in a fun and engaging way.

What is the best coding camp for kids?

We know how different kids are from one another, and our camps help reflect that diversity. You'll find camps that focus on javascript and HTML/CSS for web development, use Scratch for game design, game development, and animations, we even have camps that teach algorithms for basic artificial intelligence and data science. We also employ a project-based learning experience.
