Summer Coding Camps

While we’re mostly an after-school custom-learning coding shop, we also offer Summer Camps! Our in-person coding camps can be a great way to keep your kids learning computer science through their time away from school. theCoderSchool’s camps target kids’ interests, from video game development to robotics to minecraft to roblox to javascript with html/css and even mobile game development.

How We Teach at Our Camps

Our camps generally have a low-ratio of students per coach. Ask your location for specifics as it can vary. Camp instructors are Code Coaches® who have successfully gone through our onboarding process and are coders that know how to teach coding skills to kids. Each camp has recommendations around age and skill level, but all are open to discussion based on your child’s experience with coding.

How Our Camps Are Run

Each day camp runs for a full week, usually starting mid-morning and finishing early afternoon, although some camps are offered as a half-day. While we’ll do lots of on-computer learning, we’ll also take plenty of breaks and take a walk outside or other indoor activities. At the end of the week, students give demos to show off their hard work from the week and their newfound critical thinking skills.

Our Camps are held at The Coder School Pasadena. Kids bring their own lunches and water bottles and we'll take care of the rest! / For questions, please contact us by phone at 626-345-5875. Sign up now! Optional after care until 6 pm available for $30/day Camp registration may be canceled up to 7 days prior to the first day of the start of camp for a full refund. Cancellations made up to 5 days prior are eligible for a 50% refund. Camps require a minimum number of registrations in order to run, and we have the right to refund your money or give you the option to attend another session based on capacity.

GAME DEVELOPMENT (Ages 7+)

We'll be using cool drag n' drop languages like Scratch to create some awesome new and classic games! This fun camp is all about coding games – and the awesomeness that comes from it! Our Code Coaches will help choose the right game(s) for our campers. Campers will not only create a real functioning game from scratch, they’ll practice the fundamental coding concepts required in any language, learn how to think logically, and have fun while doing it. Using Scratch, MIT’s popular drag-and-drop programming language, campers will code cool playable games with guidance from our seasoned Code Coaches.

Roblox! (Ages 9+)

Calling all young creators and game enthusiasts! Get ready for the ultimate adventure in game development as we dive into the world of Roblox Studio. At our epic creation camp, kids will unleash their creativity, hone their coding skills, and bring their wildest game ideas to life! Join us for a week of non-stop fun and innovation as campers: Learn the ins and outs of Roblox Studio, Design and build their own immersive games, from action-packed adventures to virtual hangout spots, Master the tools and techniques of game development, including scripting, building, and animation. And Collaborate with fellow campers to brainstorm ideas, solve challenges, and create epic gaming experiences. (4-Day Camp - No camp on Jan 1)

ROBOCODE (Age 7+)

The field of robotics is booming. Everything from cars to appliances are tied to robotics and hardware engineering. If you're excited by the thought of being an Aerospace engineer at NASA or designing the next robotic creation, join us for a thrilling week leading your own AI robot around obstacles, robot battles or down the racetrack. mBot is a STEAM education robot and their mBot NEO is the top-of-the-line robot and used for this camp. Campers will get option to take robot home with them at the end of the week (+$120 for robot). (We will be using Block Coding for 7-10 yrs old campers and Python for 10+ campers). (4-Day Camp - No camp on Dec 25)

3D PRINT LAB (Age 7+)

Kids dive into hands-on design and coding as they learn to create custom toys, gadgets, and prototypes. With expert guidance, campers explore CAD tools, 3D printing tech, and the creative problem-solving behind bringing digital ideas to life. It’s a week of innovation, creativity, and fun! Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Silicon Valley, theCoderSchool believes every kid is unique, and we treat them that way. Our core program revolves around a mentor relationship with experienced coders, Code Coaches who can guide our students through their amazing - and custom - technical journey. What is a coding camp?

Coding summer camps are week-long coding courses in a variety of topics, from robotics to artificial intelligence to video game design and development. We also teach an Intro to Python Programming camp, one of the fastest growing programming languages in the world!
